United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine is seeking a highly qualified professional to fill in a position of Assistant/Interpreter to Training and Standards Coordinators’ Unit for its project “European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine”
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Project Title: EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (00058842)
Post Title: Assistant/Interpreter to TSC Unit
Duty Station: Odessa, Ukraine
Duties and responsibilities:
Under direct supervision of the Customs Training and Standards Coordinator and/or Senior Interpreter/Coordinator the incumbent will discharge the following functions:
• Assures smooth operational running of the project by means of following UNDP and EC established operational rules and procedures;
• Participate in project activities preparation, implementation and follow up;
• Provides logistical support (travel arrangements, including visas, tickets, etc.) to the project team;
• Facilitates the process of procurement and delivery of goods and services;
• Ensures proper control of the supporting documents for payments;
• Maintains updated networks of project counterparts, contractors, consultants and suppliers;
• Manages cash receipts and distribution to the participants at the official events, if required;
• Prepares project related correspondence;
• Maintains contacts with governmental and non-governmental institutions, local authorities, NGOs, academia, etc.
• Participates in data collection, analysis and maintenance of projects related files;
• Contributes to the project annual and quarter work-plans preparation and reporting;
• Assures that the progress reporting is done in timely and quality manner based on the requirements of the UNDP and project donors;
• Maintains contacts with UNDP CO on a variety of the operational issues;
• Provides oral and written translations from English into Ukrainian or Russian and vice versa as required by the project;
• Proofreads and/or edits the project’s correspondence and other official documents;
• Facilitates project related training/learning activities;
• Performs other functions/tasks when required.
Basic requirements for the incumbent:
• University degree preferably in foreign languages or social sciences;
• At least 3 years of progressive experience, preferably in international environment;
• Advanced information analysis skills, good drafting skills;
• Excellent fluency (both oral and written) in the English, Russian and Ukrainian languages;
• Previous experience in state services (border guard, customs, police, military) will be in asset;
• Ability to work in team;
• Ability to work under continuous pressure and meet deadlines;
• Energetic optimistic approach to all possible problems;
• Strong computer skills.
